Property details Almond hedge planting project. 11 hectare farm. Located in the area “El Ventoso” in the municipality of Hernán Cortés (Badajoz). Work done The following work has been carried out for the execution of this project: • Preparation and leveling of the land. • Design and construction of a water storage pond. • Design and installation of the drip irrigation system. • Marking, staking, and planting of the almond trees using GPS. • Technical advice on phytosanitary treatments, pruning methods, and fertilization. Characteristics of the farm • 11 hectares of hedgerow almond trees, Lauranne-Avijor variety • Smarttree training system • Planting frame: 3.5 x 1.20 m • Water storage pond with a capacity of 10,000 m3 Objective and advantages Previously, the farm was dedicated to rice cultivation. Almond orchards were chosen due to the considerable water savings this crop requires, the mechanization of cultivation tasks, and the high profitability it offers.
